Event review

More than 30 football teams from across the UK attended the Love Life UK five-a-side
Champions League tournament in Sheffield in May.
Teams were represented from as far afield as London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leicester for the event – the first of its kind for Love UK.
The winners, Sheffield Darnall, rounded off the day in style by beating the All Star team, which included players such as ex Stoke and Wolves striker Ade Akinbiyi, Cardiff City ‘Beast’ Jon Parkin, Tottenham’s John Bostock and Love Life’s own Bruce Dyer, the nation’s first £1million teenager. But despite the professional talent on show, Sheffield Darnall came out 3-1 winners.
The event included live music and a barbecue, and Love Life UK founder Bruce Dyer said there was a terrific atmosphere throughout the day. He said, ‘The weather wasn’t great, but even that didn’t stop us. There was a wonderful atmosphere, the tournament was competitive and there was a great mix of multi-cultural representation from across the UK. The ethos of Love Life is that Jesus came to give us life to the full, and we try and put on these events to show that Christians can have lots of fun! It was a wonderful day and big congratulations must go to Sheffield Darnall for their victory!’

Love Life hopes to do similar events in the future.
